Wrays in Uganda
Hello, We Are The Wrays!
Rocky and Chelsea are from Marshall, Michigan. They have been married since 2008 and have a daughter and three sons. In 2011 they were forever changed by simply being a host family in their home for a traveling children's choir raising orphans in Uganda. Once they heard their stories and built relationships with them, they knew they needed to go to Uganda and serve. They went on their first trip in the summer of 2011, came home and felt God’s call to do more. For the next several years, they partnered with friends in Uganda and worked on several projects.
There is a stigma that people in Uganda face when seeking help for addiction. Our desire is to help break down these barriers by engaging churches in Uganda in conversations about addiction. We want to encourage them to see addiction as a struggle that God can heal, just as He helps people overcome other challenges like greed, lust, or over-reliance on technology. Our ultimate goal is to bring more individuals to Christ and show them that freedom from addiction is possible through faith in Him. Rocky is living proof.
Substance abuse support is something very near to their hearts as Rocky is a recovering alcoholic and, by the grace of God, he has been sober since June, 2007. Rocky has experience with substance abuse recovery support through his education and work experience. Rocky has his Masters in Social Work, as well as a certificate in Recovery Coaching.
At this time, Uganda has very little education and support for people struggling with substance abuse. With Rocky’s education and experience in the substance field and Chelsea’s experience and education in Family Life and Administration, they make a great team!
Their dream is to one day open a Ugandan led, recovery support center for people struggling with substance abuse, all for God’s glory!
