Yesterday, we officially held the first Celebrate Recovery - The Landing group. The group consisted of both current residential boys and residential boys that have moved out and began living on their own. Nine students were in attendance today and I was accompanied by Pious,
a social worker with Saving Arms, who assisted me and will ultimately be taking over the groups upon my return to the U.S. We will be running the groups two days a week.
It was such a pleasure to speak to these amazing young men today. I was able to share with them about denial, God’s love, strengthening our spirit, overcoming fears, what are habits/hurts and simply learning about them on a deeper spiritual level. I was able to laugh with them, pray over them, worship our God together, and help them grow as young men, who clearly have a desire to become stronger men of God. Overall, I would say these boys and I are exactly where we are supposed to be right now.
I am excited to continue this journey with them over the next several weeks. We will be focusing on denial, powerlessness, hope, peace, and more. A huge shout out to Doug Ketchum for coaching me prior to coming to Uganda and for providing me with another set of the curriculum, many group supplies, and additional resources.
Thanks for following along on this journey God has set before me,
Rocky
That is awesome news Rocky!
